FROM EXPO TO EXPO  DI EXPO IN EXPO

Perchè la prima della nuova Butterfly fu rappresentata a Brescia la sera del 28 maggio 1904, alla presenza del Re e della Regina?
Semplice, si doveva inaugurare la grande Esposizione che apriva i battenti il giorno dopo e che, per quattro mesi, avrebbe celebrato la grande capacità produttiva della moderna città industriale
Why the first performance of the new Butterfly was in Brescia on 1904 May 28th in the evening, at the presence of the King and the Queen?
Simple! It had to open the Great Exposition that opened its doors the next day and that, for four months, would celebrate the great capacity of modern industrial city.

On the hilli of the castle were built magnificent pavilions in exuberant Art Nouveau style, inside which the most modern and efficient machineries  were proudly displayed with industrial products, agricultural products and  foodstuffs.
Sul colle del castello furono costruiti grandiosi padiglioni in prorompente stile liberty, dentro i quali facevano bella mostra i più moderni ed efficienti macchinari, oltre che i prodotti industriali ed agro alimentari.

Come si può vedere da queste foto storiche della "fondazione Negri",la città era dominata da un fantastico edificio somigliante ad un magico castello. Era il padiglione più importante.
As you can see from these historical photos of "fondazione Negri", the town was dominated by a fantastic building looking like a magic castle. It was the most important pavillon.

Si credeva che il progresso tecnologico sarebbe avanzato inarrestabile, spargendo i suoi benefici effetti in ogni campo su tutta l'umanità.

It was believed that technological progress would advance unstoppable, spreading its beneficial effects in every field on all humankind.

I think this lady I painted on a terracotta tile inspired by a poster of that period, can well represent that bold march

Mi sembra che questa donna che ho dipinto su una piastrella di terracotta ispirandomi ad un poster dell'epoca, possa ben  rappresentare quella marcia baldanzosa.

Ma, panta rei, scorre il tempo della Storia, giorno dopo giorno, evento dopo evento.....

La marcia del progresso ha avuto tragici arresti

But, panta rei,  History time runs , day after day, event after event .....

Settanta anni dopo, nel 1974, un altro 28 maggio, un'altra "musica", lo scoppio di una bomba: morti,  feriti...
Seventy years after, in 1974, another May 28th, another "music", a bomb blast: dead and wounded people.....






Nel fiume della Storia, passano i giorni e, come l'acqua del fiume, sono sempre diversi.
Ogni giorno è un nuovo giorno, ma non può liberarsi del carico dei giorni che l'hanno preceduto.

Di tanto è carica la nuova expo 2015 che scintilla quest'anno

 a Milano.
Non possiamo più permetterci l'ingenua baldanza del 1904......
